Sweet Moon Sugar...

Here is what you can expect for playing Skyrim at 1080p with fully maxed DX9/10? settings and draw distances lol. Outdoors average 25-30fps indoors 60+fps. I don't recommend running with the draw distances cranked up to max like this.

There is some lag, this is due to being recorded with FRAPS and is not so much from the card itself lagging. When fraps isn't recording I gain about 10fps.

System Setup
Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 AM3+ AMD 990FX Motherboard
AMD FX-8150 8 core CPU (3.6GHz)
8GB DDR3 1866 RAM
640GB Western Digital Black Edition hard drive
Asus AMD Radeon HD6870 1GB Direct CU
Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
Original resolution filmed at = 1920x 1080

  • I'm planning to do a video that features a huge battle once I get my new computer. Do you think this is a good rig?

    4 X 2GB DDR3-1333 Gaming Grade Memory Module:

    Storage Capacity: 4 x 2GB

    Technology: DDR3-1333

Intel Core i5 2400 Processor with Motherboard: 3.10GHz 6MB cache Quad-core processor with HT technology for 8 threads

ATI Radeon HD 6870 1GB Video Card with 800W Power Supply

I'm planning to make the graphics high for machinima grade work.

  • @Computergeew no offense, but it's not entirely well balanced. If I may make some recommendations. go with 2X 4GB DDR3 1600 or faster sticks of ram for 8GB total, If you want to go with an i5 that's fine, but the i5 is quad core only, if you want 4 cores and 8 threads you have to buy a Core i7 or a AMD FX 81xx processor.

a AMD HD6870 should be fine, but if you can buy a HD68xx cheap or wait for the HD8xxx series. You probably only need a good quality 650W power supply as well.

  • @Cpillin425 See my video "Skyrim Performance Drivers" the bulldozer kicks your Phenoms ass as well does the 6870 kick your 5770's ass. If you had paid any attention to the date when this video was uploaded (november 10th) You would realize this is on unsupported drivers. With drivers 11.12 I get 60+ indoors, 60+ outdoors, and that's at 1080p with all high or ultra settings with all draw distances maxed and shadows on ultra...you lose, good day sir.

  • Bah, you kids today with your fancy graphics!!

You have yet to experience the wonders of 8-bit Megaman!

  • @Cpillin425 The only reason you would want to upgrade to a bulldozer would probably be for video/graphic rendering, transcoding, etc. In gaming it's a waste. Also, give me a reason why it's a waste of money to buy any ati radeon 6000 card? I have a Sapphire ati radeon 6870 and I max this game with 2k HD textures at 60 FPS no problem.

  • looks better on the xbox and by the looks of it runs more smoothly

  • I've heard Nirnroot :D

  • @Goldenoriole7 Geez..you know there are much better websites/forums to ask this kind of question..ie Tomshardware or overclockersclub. But, i'd get a better CPU.

  • Can anyone please tell me if this is a good build.Case:Antec three hundred black midi tower case.Power supply:Antec PSU Basiq plus 550w A/PFC Modular.Motherboard:ASUS M5A78L/USB3.Video card:VTX 1GB Radeon HD 6870.Processor:AMD Athlon IIX3 3.4Ghz.RAM:AMD 4GB DDR3 1600 CL9.0 Entertainment Edition.Hard Drive:Seagate 1TB Barracuda Green Serial 3.5 Hard Drive.Optical Storage:Sony DVD Re-writer Black OEM Drive.Operating System:Windows 7 64bit Home premium SP1.Monitor:BenQ GL2250M 21.5 Wide Screen.

  • lol

Hilarious thing is that skyrim still has horrible textures @ ultra O.O

  • Can I get add ons for this on my Nintendo 64

  • @illidanomg1 A FX 6100 should work well for you then, though if you can I think the 8120 is only like $40 more and I think it's a little better of a deal. Either way they're nice processors, I've enjoyed mine. And that Corsair should be fine too.

  • @SubaruHyena sry for double reply but I used newegg psu calculator and it said something like 427 W but I want to buy a corsair CMPSU-600G. Bear in mind I want to use this PSU for a long time.
