  • I have these to feed my tadpoles.the manager at my tropical fish store called them blood worms but they attract when i separate them. Are they Tubifex or Blood worms?

  • They're Tubifex tubifex - true worms often found in the bottom sediment of ponds or sewage outfalls. Blood worm is usually the name given to the red aquatic larvae of biting midges (Chironomids) found swimming in cleaner water such as in a garden water butt. They aren't worms at all, but excellent for feeding to fish, although I don't think your tadpoles would catch easily them. They're red (like Tubifex) because of the haemoglobin they use to extract oxygen from semi-stagnant water.

  • Where can i get these?

  • @Powertampa

Try asking about Tubifex worms at your local Tropical Fish shop. They probably use or sell live Tubifex for feeding to fish.

  • Im not afraid of wild life, just bacteria, and and insects... but yeah...

  • @TwinkleLT

Dear TwimkleLT, There are billions of bacteria inside our intestines (guts) helpingto break down the food we eat into substances that our bodies can actually use to keep us alive and growing. Without those bacteria we would literally starve to death. We don't really want worms or insects living inside us, but we would still die without the useful part they play in the World. So perhaps you should start thinking of most of them as our friends! Regards, Neal.

  • Omg he touched them >:O

  • This totally reminds me of gravity.

  • @npbamboo We actually don't need those bacteria to live, but yes, they do make it A LOT easer do digest and absorb food. They also protect us from candida yeast.

  • THE HIVE!
