  • No, it wasn't on ice. It's National English Ballet at Royal Albert Hall.

The video isn't good as I was far and more worried in watching rather than filming, but it's extraordinary alive.

    Beautiful production.

  • I really loved this..far more exciting than most dull Swan Lake productions..was this on ice ? i love ballet on ice!..thanks for sharing....very spectacular !

  • Guys, which production was this?does anybody know? although a bit too fancy with the lights, it looked extraordinary

  • I'm sure they managed. there's not much dancing in this bit.

  • I truly feel sorry for the dancers who had to endure the bizarre light show. Even a camera's flash can be incredibly disorienting when you are on stage, especially in any sort of turns.

Wish the video had been better, all I could see was Rotbart appearing to chase Odette up and down between a row of dancers, and the nearly immobile tutu skirts of the corps.

  • I totally agree that the lighting work was 'interesting'. However I disagree about the final minute being at the right tempo - I find this rendition way too fast. I don't think the tempo should be the same as the rest of the piece. It's meant to be slightly slower to achieve a better crescendo for the audience to take in and be considered a true finale.

I saw Swan Lake at the Royal Opera House and it was phenomenal.

  • Incredible musical performance. The final minute is played at, what I consider, the perfect tempo. Most performances I see tend to either rush it or play it way too slow.

And I don't know if it's the quality of the recording or intentional, but the way the horn pierces the veil of strings at the very end in goose-bump inducing.

I could do without the KISS concert lighting work, but the sheer number of swans there must have made it quite a spectacle to behold.

    Color me envious.

  • omg how many swans r there ????!!!

  • Great audio but lousy visual. Most unfortunate because it looks to be a great performance.
