Arati at KALIGHAT temple

Kali-kshetra Kalighat is a shakti peeth -- one among the 51 sites where the divine body of shiva's wife Sati fell , after being cut to pieces by vishnu's sudarshana chakra . the fingers of left foot fell at this place , which is presently located in the city of Kolkata ( Calcutta ) .

Devi reside here with her Bhairav Nakuleshwar , in the form of Dakhshinakalika . The ancient temple has been built and rebuilt many times , the latest one being the construction of savarna chowdhurys of barisha .

About three hundread years ago this area was frequented by dacoits and tantriks and incidents of human sacrifice was common . The site has been visited by numerous saints and imminent personalities like swami vivekananda , Ramakrishna Paramahamsa , S ri Aurobindo and Sister Nivedita .

Maa's luminous presence continues to draw heavy devotees all year round ...

@Mmaulin12 no . he did visit kalighat . although he was permanently appointed as a priest in dakshineshwar . in fact he also came to alipore zoo !!
