On November 10, 2010 Seattle lost its biggest sports icon as Dave Niehaus passed away and left a void in a region as well as the game of baseball. The Seattle Mariners broadcaster was the original Mariner and his dedication to the franchise and its fans is unrivaled. For every superstar named Griffey, Largent, or Payton, no one had the same connection with, or adoration from, the Seattle sports fans as Dave Niehaus.
Dave's passion & devotion to the game resonated in his voice as he poetically illustrated the game between every inning, every play. His calls so vivid, you could see the grass (or turf) while stuck in traffic on I-90 and you would be entranced in a meaningless September game with the playoffs out of reach.
His voice narrated the summers in the city of Seattle and his most famous call, "The Double" leave chills, now tears, for fans who remember exactly where they were in 1995 when Edgar received an 0-1 pitch from John Wettland and it was "swung on and lined down the left field line." And yes, everyone had the ESPN TV broadcast muted and their radios on.
Thank you to the multiple sources I got the film & audio from, I'm not trying to copy anything, I just wanted to celebrate the work & life of Dave Niehaus, the Seattle Mariners, and Major League Baseball.
Rest in Peace Dave, you will be forever missed, and I hope you are calling a game involving Ted Williams and Babe Ruth somewhere.

Thanks for this. There were a couple of lesser heard calls (father/son HR's) that I appreciated hearing.
