A friend of mine has acquired a copy of an Italian movie made back in the late sixties called "Fumo Di Londra". Here is a clip from the film which features Eel Pie Island and a bunch of art student extras from Chiswick, Twickenham, Isleworth and beyond.
The aforementioned is the tall guy on the bridge with the boating blazer facing away from the camera.
Do you recognise anyone?

  • Oh me too, I used to go every Sunday night! Thanks SO much for this.....brilliant memories.

  • Twickenham Open Air Baths in background just been saved by locals,,early sixties in there with mates,12 foot deep end, water bloody freezing try to chat up birds and the Stones, great days

  • I don't recognise anyone, but I remember Eel Pie in the 60's!! THE place to go then!

  • That's our Italian comedian Alberto Sordi in this film which I have never seen! Eel Pie was so different from when I visited it a few years ago!! Thanks for the video but I can seem to get audio...

  • Wow, I was there. That's me aged 19. The scene depicted was shot over three days and yes, some of it was stage managed, but the crowd shots in the bar are genuine. They were, if my memory serves me correctly done on a Sunday evening and I don't think there was a band on that night.

  • its made in the 60s but something is not right ,it looks stage managed to me. I

saw acts like Howling Wolfe and Cream there ,and the audience seemed different to that depicted .

and imbibers carried a bottle of Newcastle Amber ale around with them .

Pete Townsend used to live at a house on the corner next to the Barmy Arms ,he now lives in Richmond central ,but may still own the hose ,but i haven't seen him around lately

  • Greetings from NYC. I've read so much about the place and it's great to see footage of the main room AND the footbridge. James Pheldge gave a great account of the place in a book he wrote about the Stones. And doesn't Pete Townshend live close by? Anyway, thanks alot, Lambrano.

  • W Alberto Sordi :D
