***IF YOU BYPASS THE PARKING BREAK CABLE LIKE I DID, IT'S UNDER YOUR OWN LIABILITY. BY WATCHING THIS VIDEO YOU AGREE THAT YOU WILL NOT ENDANGER YOURSELF OR OTHERS BY INSTALLING THIS STEREO THE WAY I DID******

I installed this in about 4 hours in my Tacoma 2009. It was really easy to do. I bought the Tacoma wire harness and the double-din plastic mold adapter for this radio from Tacotunes.com

I am sharing how I did the install in my car. Go ahead and check out my partially-completed site at: https://sites.google.com/site/debugmy2009taco/ to see some other things I have installed. I highly recommend this radio as the sound is crystal clear and the graphics are pretty good. The touch panel response time is also good and doesn't lag like my GPS does.

  • Tykauai, that is correct!!!!! Green wire to one side of switch and ground wire from screw on chassis to the other side of the switch! Thanks for watching.

  • did you use the stock metal brackets from the orginal radio to install the dd? I installed mine with them and the radio sticks out a little, not flush like yours seems to be.

  • @runner0092 yeah, I used the stock metal brackets. You have to wiggle the radio into position after you have placed the ddin dash completely in place. Once the dash is in, loosen the 4 bolts and wiggle the radio so that it flushes with the plastic. Once you are satisfied with where it is, tighten 1 bolt at a time and the radio should stay nicely in place. This is an old trick my dad taught me for bolting things back into place correctly.

  • so just a simple switch between the headunits green wire and ground for the tacoma? sick vid btw

  • @Beautifulchaosx0 Yup, that did the trick. Such a pain in the ass that Pioneer would come out with this gay shit.

  • can't u just ground the cable or u need a switch? im gonna buy double din for my highlander but i also wanna be able to watch video while driving ( for my passenger not for me)

  • @ExtraTerrestrials You have to use the switch. They sell some relays on eBay for about $15 but I bought this switch for $2 at Radioshack and I like being able to press the switch every time I drive the Tacoma. It makes me feel like "no body sees the video until I say so" hahaha I tried to ground this cable and it DID NOT WORK. I know, it's so weird that inserting a simple switch between the green cable from the stereo and ground solves the issue.

  • just to clarify... the green wire coming from the head unit (that is usually going to the parking break thing) goes to one side of the switch? then you run a ground wire (thats separate from the head units ground wire) for the switch too?

  • dude, just close your friggin' door, but cool setup

  • cool! im about to order this dvd system :) Thanks for the review :D

  • Ahhhhhhhhhhh close the door
