  • Well--you should read my book, which Zizek is paraphrasing. Ecology without nature is not deprived of malignity, nor is it reducible to a (capitalist) resource. What we are getting rid of is precisely the idea of nature as a distanced background, a kind of neutral medium in which we have a relatively untroubled existence. Timothy Morton

  • Zizek's brilliant talk spreads the meme of "ecology without nature"--hooray! I sent Zizek a copy of my book of the same title (Harvard UP, 2007) a few months before he gave this talk. As Zizek explains, "nature" ultimately gets in the way of a truly ecological approach to philosophy and social policy.
