Here's one last West Virginia Northern RR offering (from my May 1996 trip) before I release the DVD (sometime before the year 3000)-rare mileage into downtown Kingwood WV. My understanding is this trackage hasn't seen a train in ages! I tried to include as much in this edit as practical as my suspicion is this was the only train to traverse this mileage in recent times-and because this line is now abandoned with the track pulled up. The WVN station in Kingwood is on this mileage, and fortunately was not razed when the track was removed.
As mentioned in my first WVNRR offering in February 2010 the "coaches" are former MU self-powered electric cars, sans pantographs and traction motors. I have photos of these cars in their original state, when they held down commuter service on Amtrak's Northeast Corridor (pre-MARC!!) and were stored at Baltimore's Penn Station. The photos will be in a future slide show.
I included some footage of the Kingwood yard-and the REAL end of the line downtown!
Again, originally recorded in 8mm and mastered here in 720p.

  • @thewvnetwork It's a shame that when railroads die they rarely come back!

  • I was fortunate enough to get to ride this section, too, during one of the Buckwheat Festival shuttle trips. However, I have no videos to show for it. Thanks for sharing all of these...great to see, and too bad to think this is no longer "rare mileage", but "non-existent mileage".

  • @Engine201 We really were fortunate to have done this-now I have a vid of a railroad no longer running! It really is a shame they couldn't have kept it going! But on the bright side-they won't be abandoning CSX in our lifetimes! Still, strange chasing diesels when, up to that point, I was chasing steam! At least I got to take it for a test drive. And, yeah-Ms. Frog wouldn't miss this for anything in the world-not even a Tupperware party!

  • 'Awesome video and editing! Very nice scenery on that trip and I see that Mrs. Bullfrog was right there by your side! Nice job!
