the qui a question is not what the car, simply that the rs4 is not the same category of m3. the rs5 but this is the same category, if there is a 320 with an engine identical to the rs4 would be the direct competitor.

Flying Start is a wrong way how to compare cars.
Look at 3:30 and you can see that RS4 is in front more that 27sec... a M3 E92 can normaly handle a 1/4mile in 12,5sec
I know that the new M3 is a little bit faster on a dry track (or only ) but the sun is not shining every day
And the B7 2005-08 is conceptionally a older model ( face lifted B6 build from 2001 ) of audi, so the real competitor was for him E46 2001-06
If you are not agree with this fact you mut just wait for RS5 that´s a M3 rival

Dude, get your facts straight. The M3 would annihilate the S5. The M3 has around 420hp and the S5 has 354hp. Just because the RS4 has 4 doors does not mean that this is not a sports car.
