Could somebody, anybody please upload Black velvet? I just can't be doing with watching that bloody Battlestar galactica video ever again! What on earth were they thinking of? Drugs can do terrible things to the mind!
My first introduction to folk music was through the Lilac Time (i.e i was a fan of S. duffy) I first hated and thought, what the country song is this??? then i got so into it and brought Bod Dylan and all the other folk heros from the 60's and 70's and 90's... and now...haha
it was 1987;charts were full of stock aken and waterman/dance music, this was not for me,i was watching tvs chart show, this came on,sounds like s tin tin duffy,as i had ups and downs on tape,i thought thats what i call music, went to local shop bought lp fantastic and paradise circus fantastic then bought all others, saw him in concert mid 90s he signed my duffy cd,he sould be massive, these lilac albums still sound fresh today real music also at time into the adventures/before famous crowded house
@kazuyohorie The songs that Stephen wrote with Robbie are brilliant. My favorite is Ghosts. I disagree when you say their partnership was a not a good thing, since they made amazing songs together. Robbie is a very talented singer and songwriter in my opinion, so their collaboration could only give birth to magic! And that was what happened in my opinion =)
@jpmiller88 Black velvet is a truly superb song and ranks alongside my favourite work by people like David Sylvian and Talk Talk. It's strange but a few years ago I was playing the Looking for a day in the night LP and my wife said "Are you listening to Robbie Williams?!" (sacrilege I know!) but of course as we all know a few years later, he was actually writing for the talentless idiot. Having said that, he must obviously have been influenced by Duffy. It's just too much of a coincidence.
@MisAnnThorpe I can send if you want ...

Black Velvet was one of my favorite songs, alas I only owned a cassette and that was sold in a garage sale some years back.
