the Beat was only 65bpm's! But with a dope sample from "No Shoes" by John Lee Hooker (Dirt's favorite Blues artist), Dirt could not resist. And from there 'Stolen Tokens' (from the iTunes only album 'Heavy Manners') was born.
hard to tell at first, but the track is about the Holyspirit.
in Dirt's own words: I approached it as a battle track in the beginning because that's how I see the Holyspirit. He comes and 'breaks you down' so that He can build you up righteously. The weaknesses in the foundation need to be removed so the structure of You is strong and capable to withstand. Even in the 'party' (at the end of the track) will come and shake us up and show us a life beyond the bash. The song reminds me of when God's spirit called the Prophet Jeremiah to his work on earth in Jer. 1:10.
and about the video, Dirt says:
the Holyspirit has always been completely honest and transpareant with me. In return I wanted this video to be the same. I just wanted to express 'This is me. This is where I live. This is what I do.' I literally kept my camera by my bed and just got up and shot the video in one take (i had set up the second camera outside by my car).
Enjoy the New video Guys, and pass the word that Dirt & Shadow of the Locust are on youTube.com!
