1114 #93 Xinwu Ammunition Depot: MND's Compensation Plan Causes Disputes

There are 44 ancestral graves sitting on the ammunition compound in Haiduan Township's Samuluk Community in Taitung. The Ministry of National Defense had allocated NT$ 8 million to compensate the community members for relocating their ancestors' graves. However, some residents still insist that the ammunition depot be removed. This year, the ministry launched a project to improve relations with the communities. Samuluk Community had applied for funding under the project to better its living conditions, but the request was denied because the ministry said it did not meet the requirements.
