John Gregory (alias "Chaquito") and his orchestra play this famous evergreen with their usual flair and in that great "laid back latin rhythm". Maria Grever's "Te quiero Dijiste", which she composed for the Esther Williams movie "Bathing Beauty" (1944), hence becomes a relaxing and gently swinging little gem. Rosemary Clooney, Dean Martin, Nat King Cole and many others recorded their own vocal version of this "Mexican creation" and all these releases were quite successful in the 1950's and 60's.
British icon Cliff Richard had a smash hit with his interpretation and it is probably this version that is best known to music lovers everywhere.
But here now, from the 1970 album "The Big Big Sound of Chaquito" are John Gregory and his bandmembers with their sparkling version of "Magic is the moonlight" ! Enjoy !
