The City of Glen Cove, New York and The County of Nassau, New York have ignored the pleas of local residents and businesses regarding the problem which existed at the corner of Glen Cove Avenue and Brewster Street in Glen Cove, NY. Many years of flooding from storm drains backing up have disrupted local business. The City and/or County have taken taxpayer monies and widened the roadway thereby eliminating the parking lanes in front of the businesses. In addition to the lack of parking in the area and depriving the businesses of those parking lanes, the problem which was supposed to be corrected has become worse. During rainfalls, the storm drains backup more sewer water into the business thereby causing extensive property damage and the need to cancel patients, clients and customers scheduled appointments. The once parking lanes (now driving lanes) cause motorists driving at high speeds to propel large waves of water into the properties. For years pleas from the residents and business owner have been unaddressed by City and County officials.
