Dude, you rock, this really helped, but tell me, after 0xx132, what chords do you use when you get to 5th fret?

@kaimua it should be 5 X X 5 7 0, then walkdown 5 X X 5 6 0, 5 X X 5 5 0, 5 X X 5 4 0

in this old video, i don't use the thumb for that but the open A string, it's easier with the low E string at 5th fret using your thumb :)

great video, nice playing. how do you reach the 7th fret and keep your thumb on the third fret? is it a huge stretch or is there a secret im missing?

i can't make it sound each time, there is no secret except having or buying huge fingers, you can still try putting lower gauge strings or buying a Taylor which has a thinner neck, thanks for the comment :)

I dont understand why he uses his thumb in the first place? I use first position with my index to play the bass note, the stretch isnt to bad at all! then use my three other fingers god gave me to play guitar :S

yeah i don't really know why he uses his thumb too... but i think john mayer is a thumb fan, he always seems to prefer using the thumb instead of barred chords, etc

Its bizzare to play that G part in that style you need asparagus fingers to accommodate the thumb wrap. lol

Thanks to this tutorial i just got the first 15 seconds down in 20 minutes from scratch. To those of you wanting to learn this i suggest you learn heart of life first because its abit of an introduction to the technique. But anyway Thanks man keep playing!
