ATA's Last Flight:LAX Los Angeles-HNL Honolulu 4/2/08-Aloha!

Aloha ATA! & Aloha Aloha! Little did I realize (though i somewhat suspected) that this was going to be "the last" flight for ATA's Los Angeles (LAX) to Honolulu (HNL). Approximately 11 Hours (Hawaii/Central Time) after this landing in HNL, ATA abruptly closed. Towards the end of this video, you will see the foreshadowing of this airline's demise..-you will see the stranded fleet of Aloha Airline's aircraft as well... It's a sad & eerie scene, almost like witnessing innocent beached whales.

Both Airlines were great. I usually got on the Aloha birds to get to neighbor islands.

I flew ATA constantly since 1998 (most of those years as an Airpass & Flightbank member, and otherwise as a bargain flyer not having to rely on buddy passes or strandy). My only other ATA flight was as a member of the University of Hawaii drumline, when the whole marching band got a chartered bird to the 1992 Holiday Bowl in San Diego where the "Rainbow Warriors" won against Illinois.

If I was to be stranded, I'm glad it's at home here in Hawaii. (for half a minute, in this video I also filmed my folk's house where I grew up & am again currently living) = in EWA BEACH !!! (also, in the very beginning is a cool shot of snow/ice flakes accumulated on my window while overhead above the desert of Ewa)

Nice video....

I flew to HNL once a year from 1996 to 2006 & I always flew ATA. Great crews, great service & never any delays. Last year I flew American to HNL & it was one of the WORST flights I have ever flown. American, United, Delta & the rest aren't fit to wallow in ATA's jet blast!

Wow, nice vid you got of Ewa Beach's Ocean Pointe, Campbell High, and Iroquois Point!

I grew up in Ewa (and still am) always watching the airplanes pass overhead. :]

We always flew ATA from LAX to OGG. Loved the early departure and early arrival in Kahului because you still had the whole day for fun! And ATA always served a great breakfast on that flight.

We all miss that great airline.

Sad at 2:52. All the aloha planes grounded like that. My dad flew for aloha airlines.
