Funny thing too. the commentator said that the women tend to always be focused when training, not really having fun by lobbing or trying trick shots, while men tend to goof off once in a while. That also affects how they adapt in a game and how familiar they are with different serve returns. The women always expect straightforward shots. Men tend to expect all sorts of shots. All of it affects mixed doubles play.

it's interesting to listen to the commentary if you can understand it. basically they were talking about how different men's and women's game styles are. Guo Yan has been able to adapt some tactics from the men's game. The Japanese tend to be more close table control, while the Chinese are mid to far looping.
