Speckaroany had only been used for breeding, had not been ridden for a couple of years and was barefoot in a rocky pasture when this video was made. Just wanted to show his gait a little bit and how he is so gentle even a fat old great granny could handle him. He was still a stud when this video was made and there was some mares on the other side of the fence that was getting his attention. He kep't wanting to canter in the front so I kept in low gear. I think he did good under the circumstances and I just didn't want to press him too hard for his first time out in a while. He was owned by Emmit Lawson and the Granny on him is me, Trailhoss aka Granny Brenda. His sire is Speck and his dam is a quick red sabino racking mare named Roany. We never did get enough speed out of him to compete with the big boys but he sure was a sweet smooth ride. Emmit finally gelded him and used him as a trail horse and then sold him to couple of nice people from Nevada. Emmit lost their phone number and we sure would like to know how he is doing if anyone knows where he is now. Speckaroany was born and raised at Castlebrook stables.

  • He's a beautiful horse Brenda. He was half brother to Speck is that right?

  • Nope, he is out of Speck and a red sabino mare that Emmit owned named Roany. Thank you for you comments! I really liked him and own one of his daughters out of a Great Gatsby mare.
