@ horzagiar -- Of course it is not a "religious" work, where would anyone get THAT ridiculous idea of it? The lyrics, probably by medieval German university students, were found in a monastery, but that only says they were kept safely there. These songs affirm real human feelings, attitudes, and aspirations, in the face of religious and secular authoritarianism and an indifferent universe. That is why they speak to us today.
