The University of Ottawa (Ottawa, Canada) is a publicly funding institution governed in academic matters by its University Senate which has always held public meetings.

Here, President Allan Rock explains at Senate why he will not allow students and student journalists to film the faces and words of the tenured professors who deliberate at Senate.

This Senate meeting followed the December 1, 2008, arrest at Senate of student Marc Kelly for proposing that filming of Senate be discussed with Senate.

In the end, the students won and all Senate meetings are now filmed and posted publicly. Of course, this was presented by Allan Rock as his administration's efforts towards transparency.
