think a great passage on this subject would be in 1 Sam 16:1-13 when God sent Samuel to the house of Jesse to anoint David. How who Samuel thought was the one God sent him to anoint was not the one at all. How the Lord reminded Samuel in verse 7: But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.
