Dear interested, for the greater majority in middle-europe it had not been obvious, up to that very catastrophe, exactly what characteristics are shown by a tsunami (for instance 3 sequential waves). The video actually depicts the third wave of the tsunami as it impacts the bay of Kathanoi, which was not directly situated in the worst hit regions (such as Kao Lak and Patong Beach). Therefore it was not apparent that a natural disaster was occurring (I believe to no one who was there at that time). After the first wave people gathered and set up their motor bikes again, normal life seemed to continue as if nothing bad happened. A second (smaller wave) came along the street. I understand your view of me being light-headed, going closer to the coastal region to make a movie. This was due to my little knowledge of how such a catastrophe takes its course and I think that many people lost their lives due to this lack of knowledge! Some were even entering the beach area. I must admit that today, as wide-spread media representation has covered this event I do not know what the hell has driven me to go there and that an enormous amount of luck, as well as the "lid of the pool maintenance shaft" have saved my life. Hope I could answer some open questions. HJK
