Anne Ornish: Let's relish in the ecstasy of eating with our five phenomenal senses. Before taking a bite -- take a moment to imagine that you have never tasted, or even seen food before.

Examine the food you're about to eat with an inspired curiosity. Touch it, feel it -- how does it feel, smell, and look?

Simply lick it, how does it feel on your tongue and taste?

Now, go ahead and put it into mouth, enveloping it with all of your senses, but don't chew, yet. Notice as you roll it around the different areas of your tongue, how it feels and tastes.

OK, now fully explore the sensations of your teeth sinking into the food as you slowly begin to chew -- trying to chew until you no longer can, until only liquid flavors are left -- then swallow.

Maintaining this inspired curiosity and rapture, continue to take slow, conscious bites, intimately observing first its shape, its color, how it feels in your hands, then the smell, and the textures and the tastes inside your mouth, down your throat and finally, finally nourishing your entire being.
