Today's poem comes in Ode form and borderlines on the area of creepy, though I technically think that all odes, and the concept itself, are a little odd. Apparently today is Free Slurpee Day as well, which was part of the inspiration for the poem. Hope you enjoy it.
"Ode to a Slurpee"
Violet mountains press against your plastic,
As I hurry home, alone, amidst the traffic.
A certain splendor seldom seen or spoken,
The beauty of a baby's dream awoken;
Bright red on top, to further light the fire,
Dampened by the oceans as you perspire.
Oceans in which I'd swim for eternity,
Given the time, and refills being free.
And you rest in the circle, eyes closed, but watching,
Musing on life, staying silent, yet talking.
No fair hair, and you may be shaped smoothly,
But no woman's curves could rival your beauty.
Yet you've seen street corners and trash cans,
Been groped by young, or fat, or old hands,
And you have continued to thrive,
In the minds of the world, you're alive.
Concentrated joys, pummeled in by the fistful,
Even if it's nothing more than artificial.
You're real enough for me, even if your fruits aren't fresh squeezed,
And I'd continue to sing your praise, if my brain didn't freeze.

Note: This is also the second appearance of one of my three red shits. I think this may be the same one though.

Glad to hear, I do love my frozen drinks...as long as they aren't coffee flavored.
I may just do that. I was looking for a poetry group in that section, but I couldn't find a search feature to search for one. Any advice as yo where I'd go to share?
