The metaphors using build quality does not really apply. The computers are built with similar parts, depends on the manufacturers of the parts of course, however it does not matter if a dell employee or an average person plugs them in. Either way they are getting plugged in. With a home-built pc, each individual part is up to the discretion of the builder and they can choose to either buy cheap parts, or parts of high quality.

@henryb8780 I'm not jealous I built my own pc, Alienware is not a better airflow case also post proof of your watercooling because the only watercooling I bet you have is the cpu ona closed loop system...Alienware doesn't do watercooling for video cards please post proof

@henryb8780 I would like to see proof of that 50deg C please, my 500r (has way more airflow than any alienware) hits 64deg c with a 570 under 100% load

@midicronica1 Everything is organized and can be customized fully with amazing precision. Yes, the mobos are dedicated which can be a problem with upgrading. I have absolutely no idea what u are talking about, the ram is not crap. the psu is also dedicated and made to fit the specific computer. your also wrong with cooling, the airflow is amazing with these cases and my gpu never gets higher than 50 on 6950s in crossfire. take the advice from someone who actually owns an alienware.

It looks great. The Aurora r3 can handle anything you throw at it, so getting an ALX is more a fashion statement (love those gills!), and sometimes having a hopelessly overpowered computer is just plain-out fun, even if you'll never need the raw power it provides / the components will be ready for an upgrade in a few years. If I had that kind of money to throw around, I'd have gotten the ALX too, this way I "Just" have a high specced R3.Must admit though, the gills make me jelly. :D
