this is worth watching...

Listening to this wealthy, over-privileged 'poet of the nation' moan about oppression, and the horror of suburban domestic life in her safe, comfortable house out the southside makes me angry. Give me Behan, who at least, for right or wrong, put his money where his mouth was, and was aware of the contradictions and hypocrisy of literary expressions of nationalism and 'the nation'. Boland represents nobody but the elite, and has done nothing for the oppressed it wasn't in her own interest to do.

@MrRonaldinho12 YOU hate her in ireland. She's really popular here!

@Uzzie101 I'd say Rich and Eliot were my other favourites. Just all amazing at what they do! But nothing tops "Love" by Boland, just an immaculate poem

Eavan Boland makes me so proud to be Irish. I'm so happy we study her poetry on the English Leaving Cert course here, it opens teenagers up to such a massive variety of themes. The Pomegranate and Love are amazing poems, so perfectly written and wonderfully touching. She is an amazing poet. Thanks you Ms.Boland, sincerely. Martin Kenny, age 16
