NSU Culture Night 2009: Kyodo Taiko - Black and White

Just as fire can bring warmth and comfort, it can also bring destruction and chaos. Just as sunlight makes certain things visible, it casts others in shadow. Every beautiful flower must be rooted in the dirt. Night and day, hot and cold, water and fire, happiness and sorrow all are mutually codependent opposites of life. Without sorrow how could we explain and fully understand laughter and happiness? Black and White is an attempt to portray these two very different yet coexistent elements. Taken in tandem, opposites merge and something completely new is born.
