Starchild was written by Wally Badarou and Mark King with Phil Gould. It was released in 1981, from the debut studio album.

This song was released as a single in the same year of 1981, is was the fifth single from the group. It peaked in at 57 on the UK Singles Charts, and was the first Level 42 song that entered in an American chart, the Club Play Singles in at 60. Even after all these years, the track remains a CLASSIC.

I met Mark King and Mike Lindup at Heathrow coming back from Amsterdam. I asked for a picture and they obliged, we had a quick chat and they were off. Really nice guys. the funny thing is i had Starchild paying on my IPod at the time i bumped into them.
