In a most unlikely and interesting turn of events, the largely unheard 1970s-era Detroit band Death has enjoyed a rebirth since the release of "..For The Whole World To See" on the Drag City label in 2009. As African-Americans playing punk rock while the world was in the middle of disco fever, Death never found acclaim in their first incarnation. Recognition is sweet, even when it's 30 years overdue.

  • just stumbled apon this today...wow...fuckin wow..call it what u want i see where our musical influences called "punk" in america came from iggy and the stooges; the velvet underground, the kinks..and definatly this groovy funky bass line boppin' shit these cats were playin,,punk isnt a race or creed its a way of life no skin color here just plain old fuck the opressors and the lies "we" all get fed

  • these guys are so fuckin stone cold awesome. THANK YOU TERRE T.

  • @kukilopezromero sheeeeeeeat! yeah, white kids invented the studded jackets. dont be a fool, educate yourself on the things that were going on in the underground music scene in the seventies around the detroit-cleveland spread. BEFORE you speak junk. no mohawks, no steel-toed doc martens, no warped tour. no fanzine. it was dirty and it was the beginning of american punk.
