  • I love art. But don't think it should come out of public funds. San Francisco is the most "Nanny State" place I've ever lived.

  • In addition to contributing to the public good, public art projects also provide important professional opportunities for artists.

  • I'm glad the Mayor recognizes that part of what draws people to SF is the arts--let us also recognize that art plays a vital role in the life of every San Franciscan--often even more vital in the lives of those who are poor and oppressed. Art, to paraphrase Audre Lorde, is not a luxury, it is a necessity. Please support community arts programs that feed the souls of those who need it most--and that give a voice to those who have few other means to express themselves.
