Mickey Lee has been a pioneer Taiji competitor in open martial arts tournaments. His signature musical form, titled "Sun & Moon," is composed of flowing and explosive movements of Chen Taijiquan combined with Jhoon Rhee Tae Kwon Do kicks and choreographed to the soundtrack of the Korean historic drama "Hae Shin" ("Emperor of the Sea"). With this form, Mickey won the 2011 NASKA World Champion in Men's 18-29 Musical Forms in a division that had been completely dominated by martial arts tricking as well as the 2011 NASKA World Grand Champion in 18 and over Men's Traditional Forms.
At the AKA Grand Nationals on January 13, 2012 in Chicago, IL, Mickey opened the 2012 season with his mesmerizing performance of incredible balance, strength, flexibility, power, and beauty to unanimously win the Men's 18-29 Musical Forms Division including Micah Karns, the virtually unbeatable youth competitor, in his debut tournament as an adult competitor.
Mickey went on to win the Men's Traditional Forms Grand Champion and finished runner-up for the Men's Overall Forms Grand to Micah Karns by 0.01 point.
