  • Hi, I have a question. Hopefully somebody here can help me.

I have the Audix DP7 package. The D2s, D4, D6, and i5 are all in place, and are working great on my it. However, I have a high hat and crash on the left and a ride over on the right. I have the two overhead mics left.

What would be the best way to go about mic-ing these?

If I set it up normal overhead style, will it be able to pick up the high hat sufficiently enough, or is there a different/better way to do this?

    Thanks.

  • Hi Benjamin. The best way is to get a dedicated mic for the high hat (ADX51 is good) .

The 2 overheads should pick up the cymbals as per the suggestion in the video.

  • what mics are the ones one the toms ?

  • D2 on rack toms , D4 on floor tom.

  • What drum kit is this???

please answer I just love this kit =P

  • @gordeee1 It's a custom DW kit!

  • Very informative video-series. Thanks so much for putting so much work into these videos. I realize that this was mostly an advertisement for Audix, but you still gave a lot of very helpful general tips on how to effectively mic a drumset.

  • Great sound. Just wondering, I notice a little piece of duct tape on the heads. What is that for? Thanks for the tips.

  • @ric3606 The i5 is much more durable,to my understanding.

  • The tom mics sound alot like sennheiser md421 II in my oppinion (good thing)! but which mic is more durable the sm57 or i5? trying to make a "sound" descision (pun intended).

  • Didn't like the kick sound :/

  • I just bought a set of these mics. These videos were very helpful. Thank you!
