Thanks for the kind words. Yes I did cut this video as a parody of the iPad ad since it seemed like similar words also descibe public libraries and I would love people to support them if only by using them more often. The Library at Alexandria did not make the edit but in 30seconds its hard to show the many that exist and in all their shapes and sizes. I hear what you're saying. I am speaking to a Public Library ideal as s a source of information open to all. Respecting the value of that access by providing a safe, clean contemplative space is obviously required and lacking in many cities. The fact that Libraries are being used as bulwarks to overburdened under funded mental health services speaks more to the priorities of civil leaders than to the libraries themselves. Like you I wish people would value & respect libraries more.

It is tough in budget cutting times for the people who have a calling to serve the public by working in a library, be they volunteers, janitors, shelvers, circulation staff, library aides, library assistants and librarians, for every day county governments break hearts to poorly mend the bad decisions made that created fiscal havoc.
