What the kid is saying is that there is a difference between something that is inherently immoral and also illegal and something that is just illegal under a statute. For instance, rape, which is inherently immoral, would be so whether its deemed illegal or not--it is inherently an evil act. Parking without paying the meter on the hand, while illegal, would not deemed immoral by most people. Remember, illegal entry is just a misdemeanor. And we dont call illegal parkers "criminals" do we?
