I agree that the Prince's behavior is lacking, but I'm not surprised. Iris is pretty, she's smart, she's honest, can think for herself, and she shares his interests. Had he married her, he would've gained more than a wife; he would've gained a friend. Clara could have been a witch or an evil fairy in disguise, and he doesn't know anything about her, but he didn't care, because all he saw was her beauty (which isn't all that). Unfortunately, people still act like that today.

Why on earth does everyone in this movie constantly keep implying that Iris's looks are lacking?

By now it's sort of like a bad joke to the audience. Iris is positively radiant at the ball...

i read the book iris is supposed to be UGLY and kind clara is supposed to be beautiful i dont liek the casting at all iris is prettier than clara and it ruins the story

@imconfusedenough I agree.  I'm glad Iris and Casper were matched up, but for once, it would be nice to see the unconventional couple get together in a fairy tale, even a revisionist one. Wouldn't it be interesting to see Iris and Prince Vapid married, and her having a good effect on him?

@TheSapphireEmpress96 I think this is because it is from the step sister point of view, she doesn't know the interest that clara shares with the prince though I sort of did want iris to be with the prince

I'm at a loss. He passed up Iris for Clara? They barely even spoke two words to each other during the entire time they were together. His reaction to her was so ridiculous. Apart from her face, what else does he know of her to attract him to her so strongly? It's even sadder that this actually happens in real life. The prince is a fart and so is every other man that picks beauty over personality and brains. Ridiculous...
