Beautiful rendering of this Brazilian classic written by Antonio Carlos Jobim and Aloysio DeOliveira, with English lyrics by Ray Gilbert. Johnny sang this in the 2006 "Isn't It Romantic" CD, which was nominated that year for a Grammy as Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album. Johnny shows again how only he can 'caress' a song, as Jay Landis wrote in the liner notes- he also referred to the recording studio where the album was about to be created as "Mathisland". I love that. Mathisland. Enjoy!

@fatstrat66 - i love this version- of Dindi- Johnny's love for Brazilian music comes through- heck- he sounds good no matter what he sings- but he does love this music so that may add a special additional 'layer' of magic ! i'm so glad- you're welcome:)

I've heard a couple of versions of this song, they're both good_ but Johnny seems to add a different flavor of smoothness in any song he covers. Thanks lenoremewton, I really enjoyed this one!

One of the fine versions of this wonderful song! A beautiful arrangement for the orchestra and of course Mr. Mathis sounds GREAT as always! I enjoy the Jobim music in the original Portuguese too. Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughn's versions are other favorites.

@teachergoldie - 'a' Johnny Mathis has a professed love of Brazilian music- have heard him say this is his favorite song on this CD- he brings such intimacy to this song- really beautiful. Glad you're enjoying it.
