Subtle but intense scene between private detective Milton Arbogast (Martin Balsam) & Norman Bates (Anthony Perkins). Beautifully shot and wonderfully acted by both men.

  • This movie was made nearly 30 years before I was born and yet I still consider it one of, if not THE, best horror movie of all time. Today's producers should watch this to realize that they don't have to spend billions on effects to make a good movie.

  • Arbogast is possibly the coolest name ever.

  • "I hate the smell of dampness, don't you? It's such a, I don't know, creepy smell."

I don't really know why, but I think this is such a great line.

  • One of the best scenes ever.

  • These two actors are so good that it just makes you want to applaud.

  • This movie started the horror and shlasher fims.

  • @BelugababyBlue In my opinion, despite not being to "escape" the role of Norman Bates, Anthony Perkins WAS and ALWAYS WILL BE Norman Bates! As far as Perkins being choosen to play killer Norman, "don't judge, or TRY NOT TO JUDGE a book by its cover."

  • @tilliecw

Unbelievably so, I've always assumed that Quinto used Perkin's performance in this role as a major influence when trying to get into Sylar's character. Not sure if he could beat the original though.

  • @DrPoon Me as well!

  • @Daanioo very true i 100 percent agree with thou

  • First time I saw this movie I thought the guy that plays Norman was one of the best actors ever.

  • @Cromag99 because they are UNUSUAL. Different. This is exciting by definition. The same as being ordinary, usual, is BORING
