  • @0930danii if you have a later bug, the hoses in the trunk could be bad. Check if they are wet from gas.

  • As good an idea as the double filter is, having a fuel filter, especially a plastic bodied filter like this on the pressure side of the pump is just asking for a fire. I've seen too many bugs needlessly die because that pressure side filter burst and sprayed gas all over the engine. A better idea would be one really nice filter between the tank and pump, under the engine. That way if the filter fails, it's going to drip onto the road, not onto hot engine tin and cylinder heads.

  • Hey chris I just bought a 1996 bug and I think That my gas tank goes empty too fast It seems like the gas cap might be leaking should I replace it or what do you recomend?

  • @brighteyefilms In my '94 Mexican Beetle (known as a VW Sedán or Vocho here), the problem was a broken rubber washer / gasket on the fuel injector. It was literally spraying gas around the engine compartment - super-lucky we didn't go up in flames. We had the injectors washed while putting in new washers, and man-o-man, I now have a left-lane Beetle...

  • hi chris,

years ago, we use to drive VW bug but ceased sooner for the reason that the fuel efficiency deteriorates. without any help from a turbo charger as they call it (khaos turbocharger to be precise), the bug would run for a ratio of 5km / 1ltr, but with the use of khaos, it can proportionate for a ratio of 9km / liter. But ofcourse, i still would like to know if there are certain adjustments necesary n the engine for the fuel efficiency.

    THANKS A LOT ☺
