I'm a born again rider after 24 years laying off riding. Versys was and still is a great choice especially with the unpredictable riding conditions here in M'sia.
I'm glad they seem to have corrected some of the problems of the previous version. Had to sell mine due to vibration, helmet buffeting due to poor windscreen placement (no matter how it was adjusted, vario screen included), and overtorqued engine mounts/frame cracks due to improper frame/engine fit. All common complaints if you check the Versys enthusiast forums. If Kawasaki corrected the problems from the 1st generation bike, it'll be a legitimate bike of the year instead of a pretender.
I've got 2008 Versys with full luggage and top box - fantastic tourer one-up with 600 miles a day capacity and 60 mpg at 80-85mph and 220 mile range. 2500 miles in two weeks touring France in two summers. Stunning - buy one and save mega money on mainstream 'big badge' tourers!! Light and flickable, commute, tour - it is THE bike!

Great bike to replace my ageing Beamer, smaller capacity enough for my intended purpose.
