  • Is it possible to adjust the overall volume for this loco?It sounds way to quiet.I'm awaiting the Turbo charged CSX versions, but if the low volume is that bad,I'll opt to install a different sound decoder. in a DCC ready version.

  • @miachevydude Yes you can.

  • Got my GP15-1 today and looks like I may have gotten a lemon. On straight DC (my break in track) it will hardly run. On DCC runs fairly well, but front truck wobbles and it will shut down and restart often even though the track is clean. Guess I need to work with some more - else send it to Athearn and see if I can get a better running replacement

  • @SD70M2 Send it back. You received a lemon.

  • @flymanjg

Dealer where I purchased says they will not accept it back since I opened the box and says to send it to Athearn - Athearn says they WON'T replace it, but I should send it to them for "repairs", at my expense. So at this point I feel like I've just been stung pretty good.

  • @SD70M2 I've sent several locomotives back to Athearn for Warranty issues and never have they charged me. If the Loco took a nose dive to the ground and broke the king pin to the front trunk then the charge is understandable.

  • great video that was really helpful thanks

  • @CSXManG21 That's prototypical for NS

  • @flymanjg Are you able to chose different horns and such?

  • ho scale

  • can you run it on dc? what about the sonud system?

  • wow thats really nice

  • I just ordered one for the ditch lights and Tsunami sound - I've done plenty of silent motor/directional lighting installs, but I hate it...although it doesn't help that it's been on a temperamental fleet of old used P2K geeps. NS/LTEX 1437 is now headed off to the one-horse shortline Central Massachusetts Railway to become CMRY 1437.

    Thanks for the review!

  • So the GP15-1 comes with DCC and sound and also has the ditch lights on both ends?

  • Great locomotive

  • @SD70M2 It essential that you check the locomotive before purschasing. I bought the GP-15 Conrail. I have the volume issue. I send my back to the hobby shop. No question ask.
