Swedish filmmaker Gosta Werner earned considerable acclaim in 1940s Europe for such creative and poetic short films as The Train (1948). Werner has also directed a few modest feature films and penned articles and books about the film industry.

  • Very good for a wet Sunday afternoon. I watched part 1 as well. Not for the impatient person but I enjoyed it. Very evocative.

  • @Delmarvellous It's an artistic film, not a documentary. Artistic films with no dialogue are still made today.

  • The train is supposed to go from south to north, but the part at 7:45 is filmed from a train going south (to show the fjells forming the beautiful "Lapporten" (The Laps Gate)).

  • Part 2 & still no dialogue. This has got to be a record for the talkie era.

  • Film score and visuals work perfectly together!

  • A film from days long gone by.. a different world, a different way of living!
