I saw this movie for the first time last nite. When she realized that he wanted to kill her...I thought her acting was fantastic. She looked like an animal that was truly cornered...I wanted to die for her....all I could think of is..omg she sold her little poor house and all that time on her back.....FOR WHAT? Thank goodness that fool couldnt pull it off...BUT he was going to do it...he just didnt have the nerve. VERY good movie...so good.

How well her performance stands the test of time. He should throes Anne Hathaway and Katie Holmes off the cliff instead if they are what constitutes good acting today.

In terms of acting, if you knew this woman, performance-wise, one of the greatest cinematic moments by an actress, actually in all three of her big screen showcases (Strada, Cabiria, Spiriti). She was trained in the arts, but did not rely on method ... she risked EVERYTHING, and in doing so, secured legend for her husband ~and~ herself.
This performance, in my estimation, overall, is not yet surpassed.
