yes you can, if you are in Glendale stop bay Sarkis Bakery, or Paradise bakery in any Armenian bakery and ask for Kunefe, Sarkis bakery makes it really good.

@mayacpan I haven't seen it at a grocery type store, but maybe at an Armenian or middle eastern bakery.

The stuff in the box is shredded filo dough. You can find it in the refrigerated section of some supermarkets, and mediteranean stores.

I'm sorry, though she seems to be a very sweet lady, she takes way too many short cuts. 1: Since the cheese is such an important ingredient, you MUST use FRESH hand rolled ricotta. The store bought uses preservatives making the ricotta gummy (and use only whole milk ricotta). 2: Use only unsalted, European butter--NO margarine! If you're going to make these foods, especially foods which use only a few ingredients like this one, then use only the highest QUALITY ingredients!

Thanks. She is a sweet lady. She came up with this version over the years after her dad had a heart attack and her mom had a stroke. This version packs the taste and flavor without all of the fat and cholesterol. For special occasions, use the butter and the FRESH hand rolled ricotta.
