Are you kidding me, I am as right wing as they come but this is way out there. A "smart meter" can not tell when you are sleeping, if you are using a toothbrush, if you are watching Bonanza. It does the same thing as your old meter does, it tracks your power consumption. JUST LIKE THE OLD ONE DID! But... now instead of someone having to come onto your private property it will transmit your usage to the local relay. Hell anyone can go to the back of your house and get the same info.

FYI.... Smart meters are not "smart". They are the same old meters that have always been there, they just have a communication module installed. This allows them to send the same reading into the utility without them haveing to send a person out there to read it. They could get the exact same usage information by sending the meter reader out there everyday....again, I repeat, the meters are not smart.....they have no intelligence, they only register how much electricity is used.

Try talking to it. Reminds me of Dr Theopolis. If it verbally responds, put a strap on it and carry it around like canteen as Twiki did on Buck Rogers.

THIS DAMN METER MADE MY BILL 2X HIGHER

you should put PG&E GE I210+ in your search title, you will get more hits from people looking for their type of smart meter
My bill did not change. I closely looked at the power usage information for a few week but stop doing so. The PG&E info is limited and its presentation is too simple. I am thinking about putting TED so that I can take advantage of Google PowerMeter

Did your power bill go down?

@MrHillDo it has been only a month. I have not received the bill yet. It cannot go down. Very likely to go up as the old meter tended to move slower as it got older. Will report it in my tweet @zeekayinfo3
