Thanks Mr Wombat the diesel was WCRC 47786 'Roy Castle OBE'. She certainly is a powerful loco and first time I have seen her running at maximum permitted speed. Shame the sun was not out as her night time return run (which I did go out) was her last mainline run before expiry of her boiler certificate.
