1st in a series of videos which explain how my elevators work. This one covers some of the basic methods and components involved.
Let me know if you "get" it, or not.. tell me if anything is unclear and I'll see about adding / changing stuff.

Two of my current designs "The Big One" and the "MF5 Multi-Floor Construction Kit" use exactly these methods to make the cars move.

Later videos will explain the more advanced techniques behind the new "Ultimate Mk5" and also I'll be doing tours of each design, to explain the additional circuitry that controls things like "Call / Go" and Multi-Floor operation.

More info about all my elevators, world downloads, construction kits etc.. available on minecraftforums.net

  • Well, if you ever find a way to do it, without rebuilding.. let me know...

    or ... just watch Part 3 ;o)

  • @austiny5545 Nah.. Check the dates... I'd released like 8 different designs before your video was even uploaded.

My "1st Vanilla" PoC - July 1st., "Ultimate" Mk1->4 by July 9th , "The Big One" July 11th, Multi-Floor PoC then MF5 construction kit July 28th...

    Your vid .. 4th Aug.

  • the red blocks?, are thay wool or what, seems like there are like redstone

  • @XteslarX Yup, just plain old red wool, nothing special or modded or anything.

I'm just using it to highlight things, it would work the same using any other type of block.. except Glass

  • i know how to make multi floor for this,

just cahnge the ticks to 2 in the floor u want then make a 2nd floor connect the button to the 1st floor button and ur done

  • block by block tutorial? :3

  • 1 on 5 off 1 on (1000001) is 7-bit binary, so binary without the parody bit, just an idea but you could use this system as a bit counter :P

  • Wow, actually I recently did a similar contraption - but my design was based on a 5-clock and sent way more redstone signals than the worm needed.

Your design looks much better! Congrats!

  • Spectacular tutorial! Thank you.

  • Man ive got to say you are a genius that it. Bravo.

  • When I first tried to make a similar piston elevator without watching any tutorials, I tried using the same single pulse throughout the elevator ._. This makes so much more sense.

  • You can add one thing to improve your tutorial: i actually didn't get the fact that what actually cuts the signal from the button and shortens it to only 1-tick long, instead of 9 ticks, which is the duration of the button giving the "true" signal, is the piston cutting the connection between the redstone. You should note that in here, because i actually got that in part 2 when you added an additional repeater before the piston itself, and i think it's important to know this from the beginning.

  • @DaftasBrush So isn't it possible to wire two repeaters: one set on 3 tick and its neighbour 1 tick, also giving a 1 tick pulse on the output?
