http://MPGomatic.com drops the hammer on a 40 MPG(!) 2012 Mazda3 SkyActiv for a 0-60 MPH acceleration test. This Mazda3 is equipped with the 2.0-liter I4 SkyActiv-G engine and six-speed SkyActiv-drive automatic transmission.

The SkyActiv-G engine produces 155 horsepower (HP) and 148 foot pounds of torque.

The model tested is a 2012 Mazda3 four-door Grand Touring sedan.

Test performed in manual mode, with Traction Control off.

  • @mpgomatic are the shifts noticeably delayed when your using manual mode?

  • @grifster981234567890 As I recall, it wasn't instantaneous, like the Mitsubishi SST twin-clutch, but it wasn't slow either. I didn't get to drive it enough in manual mode.

  • @hehh543 If it is the same as the 07 Mazda3 like I had, then no. It will stay in the gear you choose up through the redline. The only time it won't shift is if you try to downshift into a speed too high for the gear.

  • If you put it in manual mode, does it still automatically shift for you like some cars?

  • Timed 8.09 seconds.

  • That's pretty cool, about 8 seconds :D Can't wait till I get one

  • @ghrpdx Nice deal for $15! The new database should do the trick, but many thanks for the suggestion. I need to pick up either a Bluetooth or WiFi OBDII dongle.

  • @ghrpdx btw, that was for a new, unused G-tech pro. They aren't made anymore but there just happened to be a glut of new ones that were unsold. Lucky me!

  • @mpgomatic You could buy a G-tech pro to record your 0-60 times and then edit in the final results on your video. I have one I bought new off Ebay for $15. Works like a charm.

  • @ghrpdx Looking at the frame-by-frame, it took approximately 9.1 seconds for the Skyactiv to hit the mark. We're working on a new way to database and display the 0-60 clips ...
