Observation:
The reactions to Daniel Johnston's music are more bipolar than Daniel Johnston.

DJ made up his mind at an early age that he was too good to work or beg for pussy.
It was a conscious decision. And although his
following is limited it has made him financially secure out the ass.
I know it's pathetic and cheesy to say... ummm,
but this DJ dude ROCKS in the Netherlands by golly. Concert hall organizers send big guaranteed cash and plane tickets to DJ and his Bro/Manager.
The freak is laughing at us all. He refused to be part of The Machine and bow to The Man, and HE MADE IT

The chorus sounds like the song Psycho by The Sonics
"Baby you're driving me crazy"

fat slob? ... true artist sounds better to me. haha.

Daniel is a fat slob, but he certainly isn't lazy, he's made hundreds of cassettes of original music and tens of thousands of pictures. What have you done, skinny?
I guess the point about music really is whether or not it moves you and inspires you; if DJ's music doesn't do that for you, forget about it and go listen to something else. I personally find his recordings VERY intense and moving - especially because of their sound. The way he performs his songs is just as important as the songs themselves, I think. Take for example "Hi, how are you", to me it's one of the most incedible records ever. What's the point about arguing if he is a genius or not.

i'm sure your songs and art are much better than daniel's
which would therefore give you the right to criticize those with lesser talent than yourself

Most of the haters never make their own art.
