I'd just be pissed that I was being called an Indian when my ethnic roots were mostly shaped in the Americas. At least Chicago has the decency to name their team after a tribe instead of derogatory terms like red-skin.

This is simply a numbers game. Everyone's bullshit rhetoric about the "honor" of being nearly exterminated, cordoned off, and caricaturized as the emblem of an all-american testosterone fest only flies because they know indigenous north americans account for hardly 1% of the population. Try out the Cleveland Negroes for a while with a nice caricature of Uncle Remus with a big old grin and see what happens. It will never happen, blacks make up nearly a fifth of the US. It's just a cartoon. Uh-huh

im native american (cherokee) and the direct descendent of Sequoyah and I am NOT offended by Chief Wahoo. I think its a cool logo. I will be saddened if they ever get rid of Chief Wahoo.

If you actually reasearched Indians history. We named our ballclub AFTER Louis Sockalexis who was an indian. It was in HONOR of native americans that we named the team. Do you really think that this makes people think that Native Americans look that. Suck it up and quit complaining over something that is not that big of a deal. Its a baseball teams logo. If you dont like it go live in another city or root for another team. Next time, a little research may help.
